Campaign rules
A lot of my delay in actually playing the campaign was a lack of rules that suited my need and level of depth I wanted. Since this is a solo game I don't need to worry about other players schedules and lack of interest. I just have to worry about my own. Since most campaign systems I have managed to find made most of the detail I wanted abstract I decided to sit down and write my own. I am using Spanish Fury campaign rules from The Perfect Captain as a base. I am heavily tweaking those rules to suit a solo campaign and add a bit more detail to them. I have around 8 pages of rules right now and I'm pretty satified with direction they are heading in. I still have a lot of work on flags for several Duchy armies and still need to print and put them together. I should be able to start and fight a couple of battles with the armies I have printed currently though. Once my rules are written and printed out I will begin the Campaign. A year of work is finally coming together!

Armies finally finished!
I've finally finished drawing all the armies. I still have to finish the flags but the vast majority of the work is finished. This was a big accomplishment for me and I'm ready to start gaming!

Update Finally
Wow I did not realize it has been since March that I posted something. I am still working on the campaign. Some personal stuff have come up and I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to the campaign. Things are settling down and I've been working on the Morgard army. I've designed their national flag and the basic template of the regimental flags. All infantry for Mannebruck have been printed and I need to start glueing them together. I'm working on the cavalry for Wulfenburg, seriously reconsidering my design. It is a pain to glue individual horsemen and takes forever. I might have to go back to the drawing board on that. Here is a pic of my table, I love the mat from Cigarbattles!

Armies Deployed
The Armies are assembled and deployed on the map. Arnsburg and her allies make up the center states. Murnzenbach and her allies surround them. A great council is scheduled to come up with the articles of war that each state must abide by. If these rules are broken then that state must pay reparations to the offended state.

Game mat and random pixel art
My game mat I ordered from Cigar box battles arrived, it is pretty awesome! I got the European 1 battlefield. It has a nice mixture of open fields and woods that can make for a varied battlefield. They run about $70 with shipping and the quality is top notch! I'll eventually order another one to vary the terrain for the battlefield. I think the flat over head view of terrain works well with my paper minis. I plan on uploading some pics soon. Been bored at work and messing around in Paint and created some pixel shaded art. Here is a musketeer from the lost country of Brannekburg. A Brunswick inspired nation I'm working on for a later war after I finish the war of Arnsburg aggression campaign. Speaking of that campaign I have the Wulfenburg army put together and the Mannenbruck army printed. I have the armies placed and will begin campaign movements this weekend. When two armies meet I am going to take them through a Scharnhorst style mini campaign. I have the Blucher rules from Sam Mustafa and I really like the battle scenario that system can create!
Will upload the picture later. Work internet will not allow it.

New Year
It is now 2015 and the work still continues on the armies. I am well into the many infantry regiments of Bernefels. They are the largest nation in the campaign. So what have I learned in undertaking a project like this? Well, for starters, my ambition was a little high! I have three armies completely done and printed. I have one army that is complete but I have yet to print them out and base them. The time it takes to put the miniatures together is longer than I though. The auto cutter I bought definitely cuts the time in half but it is still a time consuming process to glue and base 20+ infantry battalions. I am struggling now to really set on a rule set. I was going to use Piquet for it's card driven mechanic that works really well for solo war gaming, however, I just recently picked up Bob Jones' new rule set Die Fighting 2. This seems like an interesting set of rules and will work for solo war gaming as well. I plan on giving the rules a test run soon and see how they play out. Also working out some campaign rules as some of the rules I've found have the campaign end way too early. Everyone always talks about a war ending in a month, but it never happens! So it would be unrealistic to have a campaign end in that time frame, especially with the amount of combatants I have in this campaign. I would like to see this be a long grueling campaign that might see the destruction of a couple of these nation states and the political landscape change in this made up country of mine! 2015 I want to focus on finishing the armies and developing the narrative of this war. Bring out the personalities and the movers and shakers of this war.
